Screenshot Notes is an alpha-stage service operated by Jonah Keegan as a solo developer. This policy explains what data the service handles and what it doesn't. Questions go to jonah@clicktruemedia.com.

What we process

When you run the Screenshot Notes Shortcut, it uploads the images you've selected to a minimal backend for OCR. To route the extracted text back to the right device, the Shortcut generates a pseudonymous device token — a random string not tied to your name, email, Apple ID, or any identifier we could use to recognize you personally.

What we keep, and for how long

• Images: deleted immediately after successful OCR. If OCR fails and requires retry, images may be retained for up to 48 hours, then deleted.
• Device token: held only in server memory for rate-limiting purposes. Not persisted to a database during the alpha. Resets whenever the server restarts.
• Extracted text: returned to your device and written into the iCloud Drive folder you chose. We do not retain copies.

What we don't do

• No accounts, no email addresses, no passwords, no sign-up flow.
• No analytics trackers, no third-party ad networks on this site or in the Shortcut.
• No selling, renting, or sharing of data with any third party for marketing or data-brokerage purposes.
• No access to your existing Obsidian vault contents. The Shortcut only creates new files in the folder you choose; it does not read, edit, or delete anything else.

Third-party services

OCR is performed by OpenAI's GPT-4o vision model, with Google Cloud Vision as a fallback. When your images are processed, they are sent to these providers for text extraction only, subject to their respective terms of service. Neither provider is used for long-term storage of your content on our side.

Hosting is provided by Fly.io.

Your rights

Because the service is pseudonymous and stateless during alpha, there is no account to close and no data to export or delete beyond what's described above. To stop using the service, simply stop running the Shortcut — and delete it from your device if you'd prefer.

Changes

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it. For anything material, the update will note what changed.
